Solitary Confinement Anyone?

Recently Moussaoui has been found guilty and sentenced to life inprisonment in a super maximum security prison. Despite the rather funny double superlatives...i find Supermax prisons rather silly actually. Below is an excerpt picked from the BBC report about these jails.
Supermax prisons are said to be equipped with 1,400 remote-controlled steel doors, motion detectors, pressure pads and gun towers with perfect sightlines across the complex.
Tightly controlled and technologically advanced, such facilities are designed for the most dangerous and disruptive prisoners. Solitary confinement is an almost permanent way of life, with ADX Florence's 400-or-so prisoners locked in spartan cells for at least 23 hours each day.
An hour each day can be spent in a concrete-walled recreation yard. A typical "Supermax" cell's furniture - bed, desk, stool - is made from poured concrete. The cells are equipped with showers that run on a timer, and a toilet that shuts off if plugged. Meals are delivered to inmates in their cells to restrict interaction. Each cell also is equipped for 24-hour video and audio surveillance.
Inmates are allowed up to five non-contact visits per month, each lasting no more than seven hours.
My first question is...why go to all the trouble? Why torture the dude? Although, the timed shower thing seems better than what we have here in Malaysia...at least the poor bugger will know when the water will get turned off...here the Waterworks will wait until you start using soap on your face.
But still...why go through all this just in the name of justice. The death penalty to me would be a more humane thing to do.

I was wondering why he shouted "I won and America lost" when the juries announced the verdict. I think Moussaoui prefers life inprisonment. And I guess that's humane enough for him. Sigh, too many 'guesses' here. A proof that I dont read the news much during this post-spm period.

Hey there! how are things...I think he said that he won because he received a life sentence and got punished...but his job and purpose was completed and that America has suffered due to 9/11. Maybe...

"Toilets that shut off if plugged" sounds like a good invention for our public toilets.

It's amazing how Malaysians can be so tolerant of yukky smelly toilets. We even find it natural to PAY for the privilege...

(Sorry, out of topic)

Come to think of it..yeah that does sound like a good invention. I'm getting tired of dealing with people who have no idea how to flush or keep a toilet clean.

Very astute observation my friend...and what a dark corner of society it is indeed.

*looks at comments and wonders who's big_rz is too*

what IS 786 anyway? 143 is 'i love you' or 'i miss you'.. right?
um, nvm.

hm..
fareez, i think the point of putting him in this fabulous prison is cos its how they'd wanted him to be punished..
i kind of doubt 'humane' is the main keyword for them anyway.

Haha..now i'm so curious about this 786 code..Better ask Prof Langdon to break this one.

On Solitary Confinement.

They just wanna show the whole wide world - how cool the jails they have!!! and putting a terrorist (that is what they call'em) i.e Moussaoui, in the so top notch prison is a way to satisfy the people's doubts on 9/11 (that's only my opinion..)Hey human love to have someone to put the blame on.The funny thing is...Moussaoui is the only person put on trial for the 9/11 case...

Another Conspirational Theory~
And I am doing my research..need a break sumtimes hahaha

786 is supposed to be the code for bismillah hirrahman nirrahim. If you notice, in Malaysia its displayed at some of the indian muslim restaurants as well as on their car number plates. So if you see a car with 786 on it, its probably owned by an indian muslim.Just a little mamak trivia for you guys.
